Maybe. I'm curious to see how much of pain in the butt they will be to keep up. Everyone has told me that fruit trees are more work than their worth.

I have 3 dwarf apple trees. I don't think they are a pain. Remove a bunch of the apples in May only leaving some per branch. Prune some branches in November. The kids like to look at them growing apples.

Can't believe how fast they grow. I have 2 apples on my fuji tree. My neighbor, who planted 1 year prior to me, has lots of apples. Looking forward to to getting some apples in a year or 2.

How do you like the fiberglass pool? I have gunite, wonder how fiberglass would feel.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
If they hold up with time you'll never have to worry about re-plastering it like you do with concrete pools. Used to be that the fiberglass would "oxidize" and sort of start chalking (you could scrape the surface). I'm sure their better now.
On another note.... What's your take on TTTF vs KBG lawns in our area, the transition zone. I started a thread under "Cool Season" asking that, but want your take. Do you think TTTF does better in our area in terms of drought and disease resistance? If you had to pick one TTTF for a mono, or more than one for a mix what would you choose? So I don't clutter this thread feel free to answer in my thread if you can.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
Getting my irrigation installed this week, so it looks like renovation for 2018 is on. Going to spend the next few months and decide on grass type and varieties. Right now I'm leaning towards tttf, but kbg is not out of the question. My last house I had good luck with NuGlade/Bewitched mix, may just go that route again.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
I think you have to do a KBG reno again, your initial thread is a legend. I re-read it this year before renovating my backyard.nclawnguy wrote: ↑September 12th, 2017, 12:35 pmGetting my irrigation installed this week, so it looks like renovation for 2018 is on. You likely won't be happy with the color of hybrid bluegrass, but if the hype is believable it could blend well on your lower input areas.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
Yeah, you're probably right. I do prefer kbg to tttf, but I have a much larger lawn now. The plan is to renovate the front and side yards, about 12,500 sqft in 2018 and the back 20,000 sqft in 2019.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
Finally got irrigation installed last week. Did a quick overseed with tttf. Going to come up with my renovation plans over the winter. Going to decide between kbg, tttf or a combo of both. I have a lot of bermuda that has infested my lawn, going to start killing off lawn in July.

I've read that fusilade II mixed with the glyphosate really kicks the bermudas tail. I've got More than ill ever need. If you're interested in some let me know.

What did you use to scar the surface prior to overseeing? I’m about to do the same.
Looks good, I’m jealous of your results. I’ve been at it all (HOT) summer here in Dallas.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
Yes, I was originally going to do just the front and sides for now, but ended up getting the whole thing done. I am happy I did, now I can focus on my lawn renovation next year.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
This winter stinks, coldest since I've been in NC. Been thinking about seed selection the past few weeks. Still unsure on kbg, kbg/tttf mix or tttf. I'm open to ideas.

Re: NCLG Lawn and Landscape Reno Thread
With 100% irrigation coverage, KBG would be really tempting! But you also get a lot more sun than your last yard.
Are you paying for the H2O, or is it on an irrigation well?
