I always root for the guy that has shade to deal with, and dayum, you put yourself in my Top 5 of the year. You pretty much set the bar this year on seeing what you get when you stick to doing the basics well, instead of looking for the next bag-o-miracle.

Congrats - beautiful !!

Thanks Andy, and yes, I do have my fair share of shade. With Bewitched, you really don't need allot of direct sunlight. This is the biggest reason I picked it.

That looks sweet! If anyone has any doubt that fertilizing earlier works, check out this reno.

Regarding shade, what I found is it takes about a year, maybe two before you really see if the KBG can sustain itself at an acceptable density. Even Bewitched has its limits.

Looks awesome!

How are things looking now that May is here? My Bewitched Monostand 2015 renovation got hit hard with some sort of fungus in the fall of 2016 and is now pretty sparse, but just greened up within the past 10 days. I'm hopeful that the grass that survived will be more fungus-resistant for next time!

Hi ken-n-Nancy,

Thanks, the looks very good this spring, no real issues to talk about except some weedy grasses. I am currently in a three week Tenacity regimin so it won't look good for a while. Hopefully I won't get hit with a fungus. Going to start a biofungicide program starting mid May. I'll post some pictures after the Tenacity whitening is gone.

Good luck on yours this year.

Wanted to wait until the Tenacity whitening was gone before posting pictures. The lawn was white for about 3 weeks, but the Poa Annua bit the dust. I did three weekly apps which seemed to do the trick. The lawn is very clean of all weeds which is always nice.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the way things turned out. The Bewitched looks very good with no real issues at all. It does very well in the shade but looks even better with more sun.

Your lawn looks awesome paul. Makes me even more pumped to give a bewitched reno a try for my lawn. If you don't mind me asking, about how much N and in what form (milo or urea) have you put down this spring so far? I've read through your thread several times and had seen that you were aggressive with your fall N and the grass really looked like it thickened up nicely as a result. I was wondering if you were focused on thickening it this spring with N or if it just came back this year so dense?

I just fertilized about 10 days ago with 0.75# N/1000 sqft of synthetic fertilizer because of the Tenacity assault, I felt it needed it. Now it will be Milo from here on throughout the summer. The only thing I was really focusing on this spring was eliminating as much stuff that wasn't named Bewitched.

Not really, I have Hunter Nozzles along this strip and they work out great.

2.5 inches, now raised to 3 for the summer.
