NCSU's Front Lawn KBG Reno 2016-fungus id

Post by NCSU » September 19th, 2016, 2:36 pm

I know I am late to the party, but I wanted to start a thread because I am a noobie and I know I will be needing help with this Reno.
I dropped 2lbs Keeneland, 2lbs Everest Kbg, and 1 lbs of the sss blend (midnight everglade bewitched diva).
I have quite a bit of shade, which I am hoping will help me in the hot summers in NC.
Here's a pic on day 9 this morning...

And another after the 1-1.5 inch downpour we received a few hours ago.

I havent assessed the damage in person, but I'm bummed nonetheless. I know several of you guys have had similar issues with downpours and came away with beautiful lawns. I'm just hoping my little babies didn't all wash away :(

Looks good for day 9. I still see green in the 2nd pic...
I'm in Midtown (Near North Ridge/Ravenscroft) and we got hammered last night and again today. I won't be able to inspect damage until this evening.
Good luck.

Thanks. I've read nclawnguys Reno thread at least 5 times and I know he had a heavy downpour around day twenty and obviously his worked out great; although I'm a little behind that. The growing season is long down here so I definitely have time to reseed if need be. For now I'll just stock up on the booze...

God, I know your pain. If I was growing rice my yard is now perfectly setup for it. We ended up getting over 2" here. Here's to hoping it doesn't rain so much the rest of the week.

Yea that was pretty rough. My guys are beat down, but they're still there. Hoping they pop back up. May have to get out the blower.

What are your plans to fix the top dressing?

Not sure. I think the best thing right now is to do nothing and reassess once everything dries out towards the end of the week.

More rain to come...

Remember, "winning or losing we're still boozing"? Those t-shirts were popular when I was at State.

Looks like everything fared better than I feared on Monday.

Day 13

(The ugly flower bed/pond/whatever is a project for another day, I've only been here a year)

Went out and lightly fluffed up the seedlings with a leaf blower.

Some spots are filling in nicely. Others not so much. Overall I can't believe how fast some areas are coming along, this is only day 16 I and I think some areas could be mowed. I saw several 2 and 3 leaf plants. I'm thinking the shade I get has really helped. That begs the question if this amount of shade is sustainable for Kentucky Bluegrass.

Looks good. Glad your dog knows to stay off the lawn. Can he teach mine?

Woke up to this. I'm assuming (hoping) it's from the milo I put out this past weekend...

Looks good. Looks like yours is a little further along than mine as I'm not even ready for a cut. The side where I get morning shade is growing better and should be ready for a cut soon.
