The only box store that has it for pickup is Menard's. I had a coworker who lives in Ohio pick it up for me. The odd thing is they only keep 4 bags in stock and have to order more in to keep 4 in stock. Either way, I saved on shipping and it's much easier and cheaper for me to use Encap than to use peat, so why not?mitten wrote: ↑February 15th, 2017, 10:31 pmGo to know they are not the same product. Always hard to know if the packaging is the only difference. Thanks for the info.LoneRanger wrote: ↑February 15th, 2017, 9:26 amI've sampled both. They're not the same product. They also have different coverage rates. Encap will spread more evenly, because of it's shape. Its emulsifier also acts as a tackifier. When these qualities are taken into consideration, it is a superior product.

PennMulch and Greenview don't have seed in them either. Just fertilizer and mulch material.Bucky wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2017, 8:07 pmThe Encap mulch that I got didn't have seed in it.mitten wrote: ↑March 31st, 2017, 6:15 pmDid you try Lowe's? JGLI , how is your BW waking up? Did your pre-em go down yet? I'm dropping mine today.

Re: JG LI's new house seeding...
I moved in about 5 weeks ago, lawn is slow to wake up. I was going to do pre-M today but we are supposed to get 2 inches of rain; I expect I'll do it later in the week. There is a fair amount of some form of wide bladed grassy weed, not very much poa that I can see. I figure I'll do pre-M later in week and then Tenacity and a WBG spray when its starts to grow (which I expect will be in mid-May at the earliest).

I hope it's not quack. I may hold off too on the pre-em. I dropped mid-march last year and had great control. It feels like it's getting late.

Re: JG LI's new house seeding...
Here are some pix from April 30th, I'd say about the mower blade (@ 2") has hit about 30% of the plants. I knows its a new Bewtiched lawn that was planted late, but its killing me. I've done one application of Milorganite at about 1.5X bag rate. 4 spot sprays of Tenacity and one hour of hand painted grassy weeds with RU. Going to re-read the Philies lecture and debate whether I should put down some synthetic N as the spots where my dog has peed that didn't burn out look wonderful.
I'll shoot some new pix this week.

Re: JG LI's new house seeding...
Pic 3 and maybe some other areas in the other pics look like they would benefit greatly from urea. I wouldn't be too worried about using it in spot apps especially with your fungicides at the ready.
That's Bewitched for you..slow greenup is one of the downsides. Mine just "popped" this past week and looks like it's finally all awake.

Keep in mind I didn't get it seeded until 9/20 and we have had a pretty cold spring. And its Bewitched.

Yeah, I meant far behind in terms of the season. BUT - your turf is doing really well for the late seeding and wake-up behavior of BW! It's going to explode!

JG
That is coming along very nice. How's the Tenacity doing on those grassy weeds or, are you RU'ing them?

Tenacity has bleached them, but every once in a while i go around with the paint brush to hit a few more.
This is property is much smaller so its easier to do things like that without feeling overwhelmed.

Re: JG LI's new house seeding...
what percentage of your lawn is mowable?
i'm in central suffolk and most of mine isn't yet. it looks so silly because i have like one 10'x20' swath of crazy fast growing kbg and the rest is near dormant (becoming increasingly green with each week, just not growing in height).

Re: JG LI's new house seeding...
i'd say i'm 60% mowable now. I expect to be around 100% in 2 weeks. Going to put another light urea down this weekend and maybe Soybean next weekend.
