Back yard came in not as good as expected. Front yard met or exceeded expectations.
Any idea what caused the difference between front and back? Do you have any pics?
I planted the back yard a week after the front. 2 days after planting the back I got hammered to the point of runoff and a lot of it slopes. Even with that it still looked ok at around day 30. The back is a blend of Blue Velvet and Bewitched. Front and sides are Bewitched monostand. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

The front yard is warmer typically. It receives more hours of full sun per day than the back.

I'm not really sure what caused the difference. The same materials and methods were used on both. The back yard has 70-80% coverage and I'm ok with that going into winter. The front is closer to 90% coverage.

Applied pre-m and sprayed for broad leaf and clover. Looks like next week the gig is up for the season aside from another cut or two. I'm really optimistic about spring. It's been said that how it wakes up depends a lot on how you put it to sleep and I thinks it's in good shape.

I was out cleaning up after the animals and noticed this difference in color relative to a contractor mix. Come on spring.

If it took you more than 2 minutes to notice that change, see an eye doctor...

No kidding right? It had recently lost its white blanket so I hadn’t seen it in a good while.

Nothing too interesting to report. I’m just struck by the seed head production I’m seeing in the 2017 Reno versus the 2016. All the white look is seeds heads with rain on them. This renovation has shaped up a lot better than the 2016 one.

Had a baby this spring so I’ve been pretty busy with that.
The Reno has done very well. The color is pretty poor even with highly rated NTEP cultivars. That’s a soil issue.
The weather this year has really made getting Nitrogen down a real struggle. It’s been too hot for Milo even. It’s been watered well by Mother Nature. Overall, for the amount of attention I’ve given it this season, it’s performing well.

Congrats on the baby! Looking good so far! I'm starting my plan for my fall Reno here in Ankeny and you aren't joking, its either been hot as hell or rainy. I don't think my lawn has been dry for over a month.

Thanks jfd. Out in Western Iowa it sounds like a real mess this season and I feel for you.

Here’s a picture of the front portion. It’s Bewitched monostand. Not seeing that deep dark green that Bewitched is capable of. I’ve got a soil ph around 8 and it’s only had 1 serving of Milo this year. The uniformity is there however.
