Seeding lawn mix in steps
In another topic I discussed seeding a mix of tttf, kbg, and rye and was advised against it, because of the time to establish will be overgrown by the rye. That's another topic but it gave me an idea. What if you seeded the lawn in steps? If you seeded the kbg week 1, the tttf week 2, and the rye in week 3. Has anyone ever tried this? This would require walking on the kbg seedlings after one week, but if you let the soil dry out a little bit that day and were careful,I reckon it could work. What say you?

Re: Seeding lawn mix in steps
Seeding KBG first has given good results in mixes with PR. If it was just a mix with TTTF not as necessary if at all. Stretch out the time between the KBG seeding and the PR as much as possible. 3 full weeks (21 days) between seeding sounds about right as KBG can, at times, be slow to germinate.
That said, what is your reasoning for adding Perennial Rye to the mix?

You will not have to deal with KBG seedlings after a week...or even 2 weeks.
Rye germinates in a week.
TTTF germinates in 2 weeks.
KBG germinates in 3 weeks.
