Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017
Thanks for the picture Marinegrunt. It looks pretty much exactly the same bleaching wise as my grass which is relieving to see. I was a bit worried that I put down too much or something. I had the exact same problems with my coverage as well. There are large areas that didn’t bleach nearly as much just like in your pic. By the way your grass looks like it is filling out nicely.
Jglongisland, what would be the problem if there was a cold snap?

The cold snap would just slow down the growth. Ideally you want the bleaching gone before the grass stops growing so the entire blade is working for you and helping create carbs for the winter...

Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017
I’m now at day 67 and I figured I’d post one last update for the season on how the reno looks. The whitening from the tenacity has greatly subsided and I’d say is probably 85% gone. I think with the last couple weeks of growth basically all of it will be gone by seasons end. Even though top growth has slowed significantly there’s been some filling in over the last few weeks. There’s still several areas that will need to fill in next spring but I think they will do that without too much problems. Heres the pics. Forgive the leaves. I’d need to cut twice a day to get them all.

Thanks guys. Yes I am happy about the results so far. I like the colour and just general look of bewitched kbg even at just over two months old much more than the old nomix grass. There’s still several areas that need some filling in but that will hopefully get done in spring. Still much work to do next year to get it to where I’d like it to be. I’ll be looking into apply fas and maybe pgr next year to try and get the colour to the next level. Overall though I’m glad with how things turned out and I’m now planning to do my back yard next year.
Also thanks for all the help from everyone. No question I couldn’t have got things looking this way without all you guys help.

Looks good to me. You will need to wait until next May/June to see it really fill in and come alive.

Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017
Hey bmelz, how have you been? How’s your lawn doing?
For me so far this year the reno has been doing good but has been extremely slow to really get going. I’ve cut it only once so far and that was basically just a clean up mow. I’m thinking the next few mows will start cutting off more grass blades. I know I’ve heard first year bewitched is slow to get going but it has been a test of patience waiting for things to really get going.
The colour has improved so far and although it’s difficult to tell from the pictures the colour is looking pretty nice.
Last week I put down .23lb/k N (1/2lb/k urea) to try and get things going. I’ll probably be doing weekly apps of about the same amount for the next while. I will also probably drop some SOP along with my next urea app.
This year I’m going to be using alfalfa pellets and cracked corn as well. I’m wanting to go heavy on the alfalfa to hopefully encourage spreading.
Here’s some pics

Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017
Bewitched was a bit slower than my blueberry as I recall, and having just been in upstate western NY I know for sure they are a few weeks behind my conditions. My blueberry peaked a few weeks ago for spring before the seedheads came in, so your bewitched seems like its.behaving normally.

Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017
wow, looking good SnowBob, looking very good.
My lawn is looking very good right now. Many neighbors have been letting me know . that aggressive nitrogen regimen in the fall kept it a nice green all winter and it started growing instantly this spring. It's still growing like crazy and I haven't even given it any food yet (other than a bit in the FAS application last week.)
You're grass looking very good, much better than mine looked at this time last year... ...and my reno was done in late June of the previous year. So just wait till next year-If you stick to the plan, I think you'll be pretty happy in the long run.
Hopefully I can find some more room in the budget and take on my side yard and maybe back yard this year. I'd like to splurge and pick up some bewitched but as you know, it's difficult to source on this side of the border.
anyway, looking forward to some future updates. keep up the good work.
