I’m assuming, since you’ve lurked here before registering, that you already know that the volunteers who help other users with soil tests don’t work with non-Logan Labs tests, right?
Anyone is free to chime in, of course. But Andy and HLG have posted repeatedly (over the past nine or 10 years) that they only work with Logan Labs tests.

Yeah, I don't always reply when it's the wrong test - we have to standardize and treat everyone the same or it gets crazy and difficult to compare results between different tests and all that goes into arriving at those numbers.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
Didn’t realize can only use one lab but I’m trying to keep everything in one thread.
In a month I’ll apply bag rate of mag I cal and test again next spring.
My biggest threat now is going to be weeds and identifying them once I get my lawn seeded.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
Understood. Maybe someone else will take a look at your test.
I know those guys are so busy with the ones following their instructions, they’ll probably not bother with yours. They are doing this for free, after all. So their time, their rules, right?
Heck, most labs, including Logan Labs, will charge an extra $15 or $20 for what those guys do for free.
So as long as you are ok with waiting for someone else to help you (I have no clue who that might be), it’s a win/win for everybody!

For KBG, it is just phenomenal for creating a light weed prevention barrier at seed down as well as light treatment once germination occurs.
Usually there is a 4 oz per ACRE (NOT per K) rate applied at seed down then at 4 weeks.
Spoon feed urea to get it as mature as possible as quickly as possible. Keep it watered well.
As soon as you can mow, go for it to help it spread. You can spot spray weeds with normal herbicides once your grass is mature enough, but if temps are close to too high you can overstress the turf. There will be plenty of time to work on weeds in the fall, which is the best time anyways. It's much more difficult to get the grass mature enough so it's roots can sustain it during the summer stress. As long as it survives to the fall you'll have plenty of time to feed it and kill what you don't want.
Water is your friend!

Yes you can, use 4 oz/acre rate.

Yes, within a day or so. KBG can germinate in less than a week, especially in shade, so don't push it.KBGkicksazz wrote: ↑May 14th, 2018, 8:45 pmSo can I put seed down then blanket spray tenacity?

Did the first round of zapping with glyphosphare today.
Will do second round Monday or Tuesday night as it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
First app of glyphosphate it rained a few hours after and the kill of what little grass and weeds I had wasn’t that great.
Applied second round last night at higher dose from hose end sprayer trying to make sure I get a good kill.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
I got lucky on day 2 to get some light rain temps have been around 80F peak temp during the day and around 50F at night.
But no help on rain and my irrigation system is on a well so it’s not easy keeping up.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
We have lift off. There are a few spots of fuzz I noticed when I came home tonight.
Ideal cool nights and warm days and it’s been a battle to keep it watered due to the dry spell. Constant short cycles with the irrigation system and been spacing them out.
About every 5 hours I’m running for 10 minutes on each zone and it’s just enough to keep some dampness.
Supposed to get some rain over the next 4-5 days which if welcomed.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
Day seven. Very very thin grass spots have germinated and don’t see full coverage yet.
Been working hard to keep up with irrigation. Haven’t gotten a break as it’s been sunny and dry.
I’ve got work travel the next 10 days so have to rely on my irrigation timing rather than micro managing everyday.
Fingers crossed when I return more grass has germinated.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
Wife sent me a lousy photo and not seeing much germination.
Day 11 and last few days had temps around 60F and lot of rain. Hopefully I see results over the next week as more seedlings emerge.

Re: KBGkicksazz lawn project
Day 12 Wife tells me “looks likes it’s starting to grow but not fantastic”
After seeding I used applied fertilizer so the runner wheels and my feet were helping seed contacts. Plus I used my lawn tractor and drove around instead of roller as Taylor Rental someone had rented theirs so had to improvise.
I’m hoping it’s just a slow germination and once temps rebound to Low 70s over next few days I startto seemore seedlings pop up. In her close up I can see seedlings but hard to assess without being there.
