I am usually late in preparing for seeding in the fall but this year I am prepared early and looking to start early. Here in Detroit, we are expecting highs around 80 and lows around 65 for the 10 day forecast for the next 10 days.
I'm temped to drop Tall Fescue seed on Sunday. What do you think? How early is too early?
Thanks.

Re: Seed down timing
The typical time for seed-down is right around August 15th, which is most often when the evenings begin to cool just a tad. The thinking is that when the seed actually germinates, extended periods of extreme heat will be less likely. You can go earlier, but you'll have to keep on top of keeping things moist and handling periods of real heat.
