Re: Renovators: Sprout and Pout
This hasn't been bumped yet this year, so here it is for my fellow reno rookies as we put seed in the ground. Even after reading this, and understanding it, I'm sure I'm going to go a little nuts when it happens.

Re: Renovators: Sprout and Pout
Last year it took 9 - 10 months for my grass to get out of Pout, anything less than that this year will be a dramatic improvement.

Psssst!!! You're not supposed to resurrect this thread until the seed is down for the second week of renovators!! After they're 8000% committed, THEN we tell them about Sprout-and-Pout. By that time, they're thoroughly drunk after worrying about thunderstorms, 6-million birds in the yard, and whether the seed they bought was a dud.Bumping for 2017 renos...

Same here that late seeding was a killer (oct 2nd)greenrebellion wrote: ↑August 18th, 2017, 2:31 pmLast year it took 9 - 10 months for my grass to get out of Pout, anything less than that this year will be a dramatic improvement.
didn't take off till late spring but look pretty good now.
So good i am taking on the front yard this year. will be starting a thread soon on it.
This year i have 100 pots going and it's only 600 sqft so thinking of planting mostly the pots then laying some seed in the bare areas. That way i can give it a little head start. These water regulations suck for seeding and they will not grant an exception in this town.

I have a set of notes that I go through and I remember reading this post in the spring. I searched for it and found it, saw the previous bumps from years past. Rookie mistake, I will not commit in 2018

Don't worry about it!! It's just a joke that we don't tell them about Sprout and Pout until there is nothing they can do but deal with it.

6 Million Birds = Check
Didn't think about the dud seeds yet, but now I get to worry about millions of KBG seeds all washed to certain areas.
I don't have time yet to worry about sprout and pout....
