What is wrong with these trees
I have two trees in our yard. They are evergreens, but I don't know what kind. I have noticed that they have always stayed green/brown throughout our ownership of this house (2 years). I wish it had more green than brown in it, and thought its just shedding leaves and getting new leaves. However, this is more or less a permanent state of its leaves.
I am also including pics of tree trunk if that gives any clues.
We dont give any special treatment to these trees. Just mulch, and whatever rain water/ground water they get. There is one more tree in same island, I think its spring snow crabapple. And that one looks fine and shows no yellowing/browning.

Re: What is wrong with these trees
On my phone the pictures are not very clear. Looks like they are cedar trees. When I see that types of browning I think of spider mites. I would google "spider mite paper test" to learn the procedure to test for them. Let us know what you find.

I wish I could upload high resolution, but the hosting website won't allow it.
Do spider mites also cause the tree trunk to appear like it does in pictures, or is it normal for tree trunk to look like it. I am going to try the paper test today when I get a chance, thanks for that.

How thick is the mulch? some trees will die a slow death because of added ground cover.

Re: What is wrong with these trees
It was added just a day or so ago. It is not that thick, and the tree has been like that before mulch was applied for the year. Before that mulch application I could see soil.1977212 wrote:How thick is the mulch? some trees will die a slow death because of added ground cover.
