Poison ivy around evergreen tree
Have a big batch of poison ivy intertwined with one of my trees. Not sure what variety of evergreen but I'm very allergic to poison ivy so I'd rather spray it with a herbicide rather than pull by hand.
Any recommendations of a herbicide that will kill the ivy and not effect the tree?

Re: Poison ivy around evergreen tree
Oh hell !!! It can handle a little Triclopyr. Two of my sons bought homes with large neglected lawns and gardens. Try to reasonably minimize the amount of Triclopyr applied to the bark, but don't go crazy - it will handle it.
Want to be very careful? If the vines are very thick, cut them at the base and paint the bottoms and vines that don't touch the tree with double-strength Triclopyr. Repeat weekly.

Sure. If painting it, use double the "brush and PI rate rate", which is double the "lawn rate". Don't play the "more is better" game - you will lose.

Andy's advice is spot on. I've posted before that conifers are supposedly resistant to triclopyr, not from first hand experience but from reading various sources online. Keep the dosage modest.

I accidently got some CCO-strength Triclopyr solution on about 8 inches of a low branch on a ~40-foot Pine tree today. I doubt it'll hurt it.
