Anybody else experience leaves falling from health trees this spring? I've never quite seen anything like it, and it almost looks like early fall (except the leaves on the ground are green, instead of red/brown/etc...).

All spring, any time there is any kind of wind, leaves fall. It's happening on several trees, not just 1 tree that perhaps is dying/unhealthy.

Any thoughts?

I lost a number of young trees of widely varying genera after they leafed out strongly this spring only to be hit by poorly timed excessive and extended wet weather.

I have a mature sugar maple that is looking terrible this year after not having any issues in the past. The leaves are sparse, half their normal size, and discolored. It hasn't started dropping leaves yet, but I'm hoping it will and that it puts out a new flush of healthy leaves.

After such a mild winter, this wet spring really sucked. I lost so many woody plants.

My crabapples are dropping some leaves, as well as my apple and cherry trees. My shumard oak has very little leaves and does not look good. Very weird spring... hoping they bounce back.

I was going to say I've noticed a lot of leaves falling the past few weeks. More than I'd expect this time of year. Then I saw your post. First though was this is what Andy calls "tired leaves" starting way too early. But that doesn't make much sense. Some are green. Others are brown.

Well, at least it's not just me

Mine are almost all green and look to be in good shape. It's the type of thing I'd expect to see after a really, really strong, windy storm, but it's happening even in the lightest of breeze.

That being said, it's a lot better than it was just a week or so ago.

Yeah, still happening. Actually, last year was similar (but not quite as early) and it kept up until Fall when we got into the real leaf drops. Actually, a few weeks ago, I noticed Hickory nuts starting to fall, even though they were tiny at the time. Now they're getting larger, and still dropping. There were very few nuts last year, I believe.

Just noticed some fallen hickory nuts around here last night. Not seeing many fallen leaves...we will see if a weekend with near 100-degree temps changes things.

2018 was the first time that I can remember the "tired leaves" falling early, and this year it's even earlier. It suddenly stopped lat year in early August (when it should be starting) and there were no residual effects last year or this Spring. As I use nature's signs heavily in my planning, I was confused by the order of things and wrote a "WTH" posting. It's repeating this year.

Other than the bit of messiness, I'm not overly concerned...

Hardly anything at all right now. Even after the thunderstorms the past couple of days there's only a few leaves here and there.

Behavior seems the same as last year - early drop of "tired leaves", followed by stoppage of the dropping leaves. Just even a little earlier this year than last...

It's happening again now...this time for real...tired leaves falling after mostly stopping around late July or early August. There is also some color visible on a few leaves here and there as I drive.

Yeah, it's for real and happening in earnest, even though Ernest doesn't want to clean them up. I'm seeing the first tinges of color here too - mostly where the trees are somewhat stressed.

Here too... Glad I seeded a few weeks ago (thanks to you guys) rather than waiting until early September like I used too.

Mowed last night and chopped some leaves under the crabapples, fruit trees, and ash. Might have some lows in the upper 40's this week.
