Trunk damage - Advice Needed

Post by DevilDawg81 » August 29th, 2020, 5:08 pm

We planted a Autumn Blaze Red Maple last fall. Earlier this spring I came out to what looked like scrape damage on the bottom 24” of the trunk.

Check out these pics, to me it looks pretty severe, but the rest of the tree appears to be healthy.

I scraped a tiny section and it’s bright green. It looks like the tree is repairing/healing, but as bad as the trunk is exposed I don’t know if it will last. Any thoughts?
