Begonia fungus?

Post by Billybob » June 10th, 2017, 11:09 am

I been spraying with Serenade weekly but doesn't seem to be working. Any thoughts what this might be and what needs to be done?

That could be really early botrytis blight. You can try 1 Tbsp of baking soda and 1 tsp of any dish soap in 1 gallon of water, and coat the plants lightly on all surfaces.

If that fails, step up to Daconil or any other good systemic anti-fungal.

Thanks Morph..... part of the problem might be I planted them a little too close together. They are the same size as when I planted 4-5 weeks ago.

No huge damage, begonias don't mind being a bit crowded, really. I have a 14" pot out front with 3 tubers in it. It's under the porch, though, so it stays dry except when I water it...and I never wet the leaves all that much.

For the season, give it a quick shot of a (rotating) antifungal every 2 weeks or so for best results. Or just do it when you see symptoms, that works too.
