Wife is MAD = Repelling Deer
The S.O. (senior officer i.e. significant other) saw her prized Indian Hawthorne exhibit missing leaves & bit marks.
Deer.
Any home brew that I can mix up to repel deer?
I know liquid fence is used by many but don't know much about its efficacy.
Appreciate any guidance.

Re: Wife is MAD = Repelling Deer
I use Liquid Fence and am not motivated to try anything else. It's convenient, and it works well. However, I can share a recipe that my brother, who works at the JC Raulston Arboretum at NSCU, shared with me just last week. He wrote:
I thought you'd like this anti-deer spray recipe. It's from Kim P. (past interim director) via Ted B. (past director). They both swear by it. Ted mentioned he thinks the real magic is with the cinnamon oil. Ted says he keeps it in his crawlspace. In a sealed bottle of course.
5 eggs
1 cup yogurt / milk
1 T vegetable oil
1 T liquid soap
2 T hot sauce
2 teaspoons of garlic
15 drops cinnamon oil (get this at whole food in aroma therapy section)
1 gallon of water
Store in a sealed container.
This makes 16 gallons of spray.

Thanks TimmyG.
You had me until the eggs & milk - then I think of what unwanted things it could attract!

Nothing is attracted to putrescent eggs (or dairy). That's the point. Have you looked at the ingredients of Liquid Fence?

Re: Wife is MAD = Repelling Deer
Liquid Fence is great!
Personally, I use a home brew that works well and repels rabbits from the garden, but I tend to DIY wherever possible.
1 Tbsp Tabasco sauce, 1/2 tsp any liquid soap, 1/2 tsp Elmer's glue (optional) in 1 quart water. Spray vegetation lightly; it doesn't take much. Good through a light rainfall.

Morph - I actually used that from a prior post while I investigate other brews - commercial or home. Thanks again!MorpheusPA wrote: ↑July 20th, 2017, 12:09 pmLiquid Fence is great!

Please clarify:
Tbsp = Tablespoon - True?
tsp = teaspoon - True?

Re: Wife is MAD = Repelling Deer
Let me save you the trouble:
Liquid Fence Deer & Rabbit Repellent (concentrate)
Active Ingredients: Putrescent Whole Egg Solids 24.65%, Garlic 2.96%, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate 0.61%, Potassium Sorbate 0.49%
It's all about the eggs.
And before you ask, T = Tbsp, t = tsp.

Always has been true, always will be true. Google the easy stuff!

Re: Wife is MAD = Repelling Deer
I have a homemade formula that works as good as Liquid Fence. It's posted here somewhere. I use Liquid Fence. Why? The homebrew repels humans better than Liquid Fence.
Looking into a Casein homebrew. Some promise...
