Moss in with Hostas, Moss Out OK?

Post by fastboat » April 13th, 2018, 10:01 am

Can I spray MossOut at recommended rate all over my Hosta beds or should I try my best to stay off the Hosta plants themselves?

I've seen it stain white or yellow plant tissue, so I'd be careful.

Would the Dawn dish soap method be safer and still effective in this case? 2 oz of dish soap per gallon sprayed over the area.

I dunno - if the hosta have leafed-out, I don't know how you apply the Dawn. I've never done that to a Hosta patch. Try it on one hosta and see...

I didn't think it was possible to kill hostas... especially with Dawn (even safe on ducks). haha.

I was actually thinking the opposite - how the hell do you get the Dawn on the moss once the hosta are leafed-out? I have several beds of them that I cannot see the soil for 2000 sq ft.

Oh now I get it... haha. If you can't see the moss I guess there is nothing to worry about!
