I'm An Awful Estimator!!
Using all of my "nature's signs" signals, I estimated that the Forsythia would bloom today in my area. Mother Nature thumbed her nose at me, and they bloomed yesterday.

I'm being facetious. It's amazing how accurate Mother Nature's signs are if you care to learn and watch them.

I thought about buying a Forsythia but couldn't find one at a local nursery. When the forsythia bloomed this year, I found out a neighbor within site of my front yard has one and now I can use his instead. There's your sign.

I'm in the same boat, there's a forsythia at the entrance to my subdivision that I use as my pre-emergent alarm. If that thing ever disappears I will be disappointed, although there are a million bradford pears around that bloom at the same time.Southernguy311 wrote:I thought about buying a Forsythia but couldn't find one at a local nursery. Indeed, the main road I get to my subdivision on has about 40 bradfords lining both sides of the road.

I think they were a fad. I've never seen one for sale in a nursery here, but have noticed they are planted in many lawns of older homes in my area. I think this is the only time of year they actually look good.Southernguy311 wrote:I thought about buying a Forsythia but couldn't find one at a local nursery. Plenty of forsythias sold up here this time of year at the box stores. Many more varieties these days, too, including more compact varieties that bloom more profusely.

Let me know when you get it to within 15 minutes.
Kidding - nicely done as always.
