Need help with small area along walkway
So I have an area between my walkway and a 6ft privacy fence that is about a foot wide and 30' long. It is on the north side of the fence, but still will get pretty direct sunlight for some of the year. I've always just thrown mulch there and called it a day. I'm looking for something that I can plant such as an ornamental grass, and maybe some sort of flower between the grass. My biggest concern is that I don't want it to impede onto the walkway.

Hakone grass is said to do well in shady areas. It spreads a little but not invasively.

Re: Need help with small area along walkway
Thanks guys, after a lot of research gonna go with mondo grass with some Karl foerster feather reed grass in between to compliment it. Might throw in a couple annuals every spring until the mondo grass most likely takes over any bare spots.
Much appreciated!
