Here is a VA Tech publication on small fruit in the home garden. It discusses raspberries:

Re: best time to plant bare root raspberries ?
thanks for sharing this link but I have already red it . they don t talked about the best timing to plant them or either should it be in full sun knowing that the Virginia climates during summer is really hot .
Re: best time to plant bare root raspberries ?
It says to plant 4 weeks before the average last frost date, which for us is April 11-20. So mid March would be the planting time. It also says they do better in the cooler mountain areas and that the red kind are better than the others for warmer areas of the state.
Here is a question/answer on sunlight requirements: full sun or at least 6-8 hours:

Here's another article on raspberries and in the question section the author says 6-8 hours of sun:

Good luck! I have blueberries and figs. No raspberries. Growing up on the farm in Louisa there were blackberries. And strawberries. If I had space I'd love to have strawberries.

I don't know my varieties; they were already there. Both need full sun. Blueberries prefer an acidic soil. On fruit trees you need to be aware of diseases that could affect them and spray accordingly at the proper times. They take up a lot of space in the yard and will shade nearby plants. But it is wonderful to have your own apples, for example.
