Milorganite as a Fertilizer for Vegetables

Post by John » June 3rd, 2013, 1:28 pm

I just started using Milorganite on my lawn and have already seen noticeable, positive changes. Guess I've found out what so many of you have known for years.

Milorganite works great for lawns, but does it provide any benefit in fertilizing vegetables?

Thanks for the help.

The stuff is the Shit. No really. It is. I checked out this site over a year ago and used it in the fall of last year on everything on my property. This year, I have had such a good response from that stuff, all our Roses, perennial plantings even my trees (milo) as everyone on here calls it, I have decided to really utilize it into my lawn care as well. All my Veggies seem to be doing great, but I've only had stuff planted since Mothers day so we'll see what it all turns into this year. I had a major pool renovation last year and my lawn didn't survive a lot of the equipment and the contractor tore up all the old cement and left it on a large part of the back yard. Needless to say after aeration and stuff I used it and had over seeded. I know it'll take a bit to get everything back into shape, but I attribute the success of everything to that stuff so far.. I'm a convert. Good luck!

Its nitrogen, guys,no miracle.Other than a great slug of iron,it really does nothing different than any other source of nitrogen will.

My milo goes on everything to a certain extent so there is milo for veggies, bulbs, shrubs, trees, perennials etc.
Not much phosphorus and virtually no potassium, so if your plant needs more of these nutrients you will need another source for them.

I grow absolutely amazing ferns using milorganite. Really good for shrubs and trees too what I can tell.
