soil test question

Post by uncle_al » June 14th, 2016, 12:33 pm

I got my vegetable garden soil test results from Logan Labs. Can someone possibly tell me if 1550 lbs/acre of phosphorus is high or low or just right. It's the Mehlich III Phosphorus test.
Thanks

Usual basic guidelines for surface application is 1lb per 1000sqft... or 43.5lbs per acre (43,560sqft per acre) per month/application (by my math anyhow...?). Some places will say 50-100% more then that for 'rescue' or high limit...

Are you going to be tilling the area? That changes things I believe, as well as helping move nutrients throughout soil profile - as it is a slow moving nutrient.

That is not the question that the OP asked. He asked about the current level in the soil.

Thanks Andy, I was kinda thinking that too but wanted to be sure. Must be from years of amending with composted manure.
