Free Irrigation Caddy(s) to Member

Post by andy10917 » May 28th, 2017, 7:26 pm

I'm moving from two Irrigation Caddys (one reasonably recent, one ancient) to a 16-zone Rachio system.

The Irrigation Caddys are available to a member with at least 200 postings. The units require hard-wired connections, and have been indoors their entire lives. They work fine but haven't been updated and I have no idea where the cover to the ancient one is. It's free but as-is - I have no intention of doing any research or answering questions.

If there are multiple members that want them, they'll go to the member with the longest membership period and/or most posts.

Any want them?

If you haven't bought your Rachio yet, Home Depot has the 16 zone for $175, marked down from $222.99. It's the "Special Buy of the Day" and that price is only good for another 18hr58min as of the time of this posting.

Just FYI. That special is for refurbished models.

I ordered. (After going directly to the Home Depot site) But after calling about the order, I was told these are refurbished models. It doesn't note that on their web page.

That price is about what you'd expect on refurbished models.

I cancelled my order.

FWIW, I saw "Refurbished" in the titles when I first looked at the SBotD link early this morning.

I don't think we threw them away yet. I'll check with the Mrs, and contact you either way...

Update: verified that they are still here in the house.

Andy,

Let us know what you think of the Rachio after you have played around with them. The level of customization of soil types is perfect for you. I have it working quite well at my place in Maine although I had to play around with the soil setting quite a bit to get it to water how I wanted independent of what it thought was right. Once you get it going correctly (took a few months of tweaking) its great. I have Hydrawise at my new home and its "Smart Watering" algorithm flat out stinks. The hardware is much nicer, but the software just isn't as good as Rachio.

One day one of these guys will allow you to control two zones so you can program schedules with an EZ Flo.
