Well Point & Pool Pump - Anyone Try It?

Looking to do a simple lawn irrigation setup that utilizes a well point and pool pump/sprinkler pump and Im wondering if anyone else on here has tried something similar. I am building a new house where the soil is like beach sand about a foot below the top soil so I figure it wouldnt be too difficult to put the well point in and I was told that the water table is only about 17 feet down. Any info/experiences with this would be much appreciated.
