Help! Rubber cover on Hunter head damaged. How to replace?
I was inspecting sprinkler heads today, and noticed a gash in the rubber cover of one of my rotors. I have I20s. I didn't think I used the strong trimmer in that part of the yard, but I may have, and may have gotten too close.
While I see the replacement rubber covers for sale, I cannot find any info whatsoever on whether they can actually be removed and replaced, or how to do it. It seems like it should be an easy repair, but who knows.
Literally the only reference I found on the Internet was a thread on this site from 7 years ago:
viewtopic.php?t=3007
But he doesn't go into details on how to remove and replace the cover.
I have the head retention collar...which is needed on the I20s because the retraction spring is very strong and you can't hold it up by grabbing the head.
One other question I have, is, when I insert the key into the slot that allows me to pull up the head, what is that key actually grabbing onto inside? It's not just grabbing the rubber cover, right? If it were, that would lead me to believe that the cover is not replaceable...which would make no sense since I see covers for sale everywhere online.
So, are these rubber covers truly replaceable, and how doable is the replacement?
I'm really hoping that the whole head does not need to be replaced!
Thanks.

I wouldn't lost too much sleep - the entire I20-04 costs around $12.

The model I'd be replacing is over $30 at Sprinkler Warehouse. And, I'm probably not at the point yet where I'm ready to tackle full head replacement...so I'd have to have the irrigation people come back again to replace it...it would probably be well over $50 for a service call, which I want to avoid.
That's why I wanted to see if I could replace just the cover. It's not clear to me if it's a truly replaceable part.
Or, maybe it's ok to keep the cracked cover...?

Well, I still didn't find anything online.
But, I realized I had an extra head laying around. So I grabbed it, and was literally able to figure out how to remove the cover in 30 seconds. So I'll be replacing it tomorrow.
Still not sure how it broke in the first place.
