Irrigation system quotes - reasonable?

Post by KBGkicksazz » April 27th, 2018, 5:03 pm

I got two quotes for a new irrigation system including the plumbing work. I’m on a well.

Have around half acre of lawn area to cover.

Both quoted Hunter controller and heads.

One was 3500 the other 3800

Seem reasonable or too high? I was kinda shocked as was expecting closer to 2k

How many heads? That's about in line with what I'd expect for that size yard and 30-40 heads in my area, but if you want to shop around a bit more you can see if other outfits charge similar in your area as these two.

My estimate for .25 acres came in around $3000. But it would require me to spend an additional $3000 to replace the original lead service line so that the zones get enough water pressure. For $6000 I decided I could pay myself to drag hoses around.

So much depends. Controller, design, locations of things, robots, obstacles. Here I can get a 6 zone installed for less than 3k on a smaller lot.

I have a 1/3 acre lot with 9.5K and was just quoted $6K (would have been $5K supposedly if I didn't want the hell strips included). Can anyone recommend someone in the Milwaukee area?

I got mine done last fall, 10 zones, 60(ish) heads, paid $7k. I have a lot of wide open spaces, especially back yard.

Hey NCLawnguy,
I am in the Charlotte/ University area. Looking to get irrigation installed and wanted to see if you would share the company/experience you had with your current house or when you were in the concord area.
Thanks!

Why not install it yourself?

Time and energy

20 years ago I would have done it myself.
Now I rather pay
