New faucet

Post by DeepC » July 11th, 2020, 4:19 pm

I installed a faucet on the exterior wall of the garage. I teed off the cold side of the water heater. I figured I would pass this along in case someone else was wanting an extra faucet outside. The sharkbite faucet and fittings sure make it easy for diy homeowners to do plumbing. You literally just push the pex in and its done.

I agree. I have Pex throughout the house and some unfinished areas in the basement. I added 3 new faucets and upgraded the two existing faucets from 1/2" to 3/4." One of the easier DIY projects I have ever done.

I used 1/2" pex Sharkbite brand since I knew I was going to use the sharkbite fittings. I ordered it from Amazon. I dont see that it says A or B.

If you're using Sharkbites, it's PEX-B.

I used the crimp on connectors.

Do you see any problems with it being Pex-B?

Not really. Just never store any PEX to sunlight. PEX-A allows tighter turns than PEX-B, and the lifetime of the Sharkbite connectors isn't really known yet (it's too new) but should be around 50 years. I've done a major house addition to a house in PEX-A, but it's more expensive and requires special tooling in most situations.
