Is master valve needed?
Had a quote from an installer for my new system. He said he would install it with or without a main electric master valve. He claims that if you install a master valve you would never know if you had a leak in the system.

Re: Is master valve needed?
Sort of true. The leak will impact the zone it’s in or the main line when the system is running. So if you run it weekly for several hours. You might see the grass volcanoes that typically are signs of a leak.
The biggest advantage is you save on your water bill because it does not leak 24/7
I’d get the master valve, if it were me.
