The Right Way to Make a Manhattan

Post by andy10917 » May 20th, 2017, 8:11 pm

It's a little slow in here. Let's discuss a topic that would get a saint to curse like a sailor:

What is your best recipe for a well-made Manhattan?

I'll start:

2 parts Templeton Rye
1 part Sweet Red Vermouth
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 dashes Orange Bitters, or 1/4 tsp Cointreau

Pour all into an ice-filled shaker and stir gently for 25-30 seconds
Strain into martini glass
Sit back with tonight's soil test reports

Notes:
Bulleit Bourbon is an acceptable substitute if you are out of Rye

I don't drink, so should not have anything to contribute to this, but I came across this on YouTube the other day.

I make mine with Bulleit Bourbon sweet vermouth and 4 dashes of angostura bitters or orange bitters. I've never used both at same time. Love me a manhattan!
