Outdoor Kitchens? Fire pits? Who has some top tips?

I'm in the midst of planning a hardscape project that includes a patio, outdoor kitchen, and fire pit. I'm having a hell of a time. I've been at it over a year and have had I don't know how many contractors disappear on me. Show up for the first visit...estimate never comes. You know the drill.

Anyway, I have now surprised myself by finding a guy that is both competent and eager to get started. So it's time to finalize the plans. Gulp. Anyone have any advice/ must haves/ tips? What did you use for counter tops? Price is an issue as I have probably 30 linear feet in a U shaped kitchen.

The plan is to use pavers for the patio and a prefab kitchen from Big Ridge Outdoor kitchens that is to be covered in stone. Anyone gone this route? I wanted a natural stone patio but have been steered in the direction of pavers by this guy. The pavers are 3 different sizes and almost have a blue stone look. I'll try to find some pics I can post.
