6 week SOD
We had fresh SOD laid at our new house almost six weeks ago....my next door neighbor is taking care of it by watering and mowing it for me while I am away on Military. He is doing everything spot on. However, areas in the back are not growing in thick as other areas and are a lighter green. I have Trugreen starting fertilization next week but wanted to see if anyone has had or seen anything like this and what may be occurring? Those areas are also getting plenty of water.

What is the watering schedule currently for the new sod? Watering too frequently can turn the lawn yellow.

He is watering it daily. The roots have taken. When I try to pull it up, it does not raise.

Yes it is time to back off on the watering. Since it is going to get warm soon, he'll have to watch it carefully. But it should not be watered every day anymore. I would shoot for 1/2 inch twice a week to force deeper rooting. Again, watch for signs of wilting and don't let that get out of hand.
