Spring / Summer Nitrogen after Fall Reno
Appreciate any insights on what to plan for in terms of Nitrogen, and what to look for in the first spring and summer after a fall KBG reno. Not looking for the calendar approach other than general windows, and then what to look for.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Good question -- and a great answer follows. I spent a few minutes and gave the Hall of Fame-worthy Philes Phertilizer Lecture its own thread.

Could we pin philes article to the lawn reno forum? Like the cool season FAQ?

Unlikely. We have a pretty strict/specific set of rules about, and we discourage sticky threads. Most of the few that exist are because they are repeatedly needed by many members.

Re: Spring / Summer Nitrogen after Fall Reno
Would the philes fertilizer method also apply to non newly renovated or overseeded lawns that had a high percentage of KBG? We all know now about the wonderful Fall nitrogen regimen but what about spring and summer.
1.) Fast or slow release in Spring? 1 or multiple apps?
2.) Only slow release in summer? (Milorganite, PCSCU, SCU) Monthly?

Re: Spring / Summer Nitrogen after Fall Reno
Summer doesn't have to be slow-release - standard stuff works fine. Milorganite is preferred a little because the N really doesn't force growth much. Forced growth in summer can cause stress, and stress can up the dangers of disease.
Can you do the Philes regimen in older turf? Sure. At your own risk.
