The lawn companies are wrong?

Post by mdxers » June 28th, 2017, 2:52 pm

I am getting ready to send off my samples to Logan. Can't wait for the results to get going on the soil. I can't help but read many others posts and recommendations all over the country. However, I was confused a bit when many lawns had a alkaline PH, but the recommendations said that there is nothing one can do with lowering soil PH directly. I thought sulfur did that? Not one treatment, but perhaps a few. At least what my lawn company said, and various internet articles.

Also, living in the middle of the country, is it true that gypsum doesn't do much for clay soils, unless they are sodic soils?

Now I decided to take over the lawn, I am going to be in charge.

I live on a block of limestone that extends 100 miles in all directions and 1,000 feet down. My soil makes vinegar fizz. I can apply sulfur from now on and still be sitting on limestone with a pH of 8.0.
