Tank mix triclopyr with speed zone or three way?

Post by kbgfarmer » July 6th, 2017, 5:00 pm

Quick question. I have some triclopyr (generic turflon ester). The really concentrated stuff not the CCO stuff. Can I safely tank mix it with a generic three way or something like speedzone for spot spraying weeds to increase the spectrum of activity to things like clover?

Search the site and you'll see this question repeatedly.

Ortho used to add Triclopyr to WBG - it was the first WBG Max. Then they made the Triclopyr weaker and it no longer was effective on Clover, Chickweed, etc. Then they had instructions on the label for mixing WBG and CCO. Then the instructions and Max went away. Why? It's either too weak a cocktail to be effective or the chances of damage from the cocktail rise significantly. You will always find some ding-dong that will tell you they didn't have any damage - I can prove that 5 of every 6 Russian Roulette players suffer no damage too.

Ok thank you. Reason I was asking is that I don't use a ton of broadleaf and clover herbicides as I rarely have issues with this stuff and was seeing if I could make a one and done mix to tackle all comers as they do pop up once in awhile. The only non grassy weeds I have at this time are some white clover popping up so I guess I'll just mix up some triclopyr for them once the weather cools down.

Yeah, when I wrote the Triangle Approach regimen, I wished there were a safe one-and-done, but that's not a way to introduce newbies to lawn care -- killing the yard sort of spoils the fun.
