Blooming in NY is it? 🤔

I planted some years ago and a 2 legged critter pulled it while weeding my beds. 🙄

Not exactly blooming here - maybe in 70 days or so.

Andy, I know you’ve stated that you have/are still fighting the Stiltgrass battle. Do you time around forsithyia? Or go weeks /month earlier.

Stiltgrass is a very late-germinator. Around here, the Forsythia indicate Pre-M time generally around April 15-20. The Stiltgrass germinates in later May. The Pre-M applied at Forsythia time should still be working in later May. In Maryland, the dates for both will be earlier, but still Stiltgrass will be later than the application for crabgrass.

Once it has germinated, the only generally-available post-emergent for Stiltgrass is Acclaim Extra. Since this thread is in the "Basics 101" forum, that's too advanced for further discussion here.

Hi Andy,

does stiltgrass continue to germinate throughout the summmer or is it done in the may time frame? i swore as much as I pulled and tried to spray it last year I continued to see it popping up through aug / sept.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure. When I see it, I hit it with both Pre-M and Post-emergent, and I don't quit the regimen in that area for two years. I have seen it overtake a low-care lawn in my area in around two years, so I take it very, very seriously.
