Root Competition

So what happens when you overseed too densly. Had some areas which I believe were washout. Added a smidge more seed.
Needless to say, its looking a bit dense now.

Will the fittest survive ;-)
Or will they all compete for water, rootspace, nutrients and it will be a bare spot I will need to attend to down the road ;-)

Competition is one element and it causes stress. But even bigger is a lack of airflow in the area. Competition, reduced sunlight to the lower parts of the grass and reduced airflow combine to make a situation that is conducive to fungal disease.

I know it's too dense just by looking at it now...I'll guess I'll have I'll just make some empty plugs in a few weeks time when I'm out there planting spring bulbs.

Ha. might pick me up some crocus them for my -aeration- project
