What's with Milo pricing this year (at least near me)?

Post by southern-ct-4 » May 23rd, 2023, 11:59 am

Here in southern CT, I'm seeing prices all over the map.

One local place is still, relatively (for my area) inexpensive, at $18 per 32 lb bag, but it's usually on sale for $15/bag, so that's around $.47/lb.

Another local place is $20/32lb so .63/lb

Siteone has the 50lb bags but they are $31.47, so .63/lb

And forget about HD where it's $25/32lb bag, or .78/lb

What do you all pay/where do you get it (in general and, specifically, here in southern CT if that applies to anyone else)?

I'm pretty sure just a couple of years ago it was $15 at HD and $12 at my local place.

Thanks.

It's getting crazy expensive, especially when you consider the raw material it's made from... I've been doing Ace Hardware with a coupon and it is still $20-22 for 32lbs...may be time to go organic.

Isn't milorganite organic?

Thanks and I guess I should feel 'lucky' that I'm able to get it for $15 on sale

Home Depot here is $25, which is the top end. Walmart and Meijer it goes for $17.

$17 delivered from Walmart for free if you buy 3 bags or more...I jumped all over it. So happy there is finally some competition for HD/Lowes. Rural King sells it for $15, but it's quite a far drive.

Thanks for this, with the Walmart pricing, it's back on the menu again.

You're welcome! I was pumped when I saw Walmart had it for $17!

I watched HD raise the price every year from $13ish to $25ish over the last five-ish years. I love to see competition in the marketplace.

Plus the delivery because my butt is superlatively lazy lately. This happens when Tuesday rolls around and "Oh, did I forget to mention our one entire manufacturing facility is having an audit today? I didn't know either, sorry. Can you support it? Great, thanks."

On the up side, for payment I got an award (it comes with money) that covered my Milo order and I'm getting kicked out of work at noon today.

I can get it from a local store for $13 normal price, on sale at $10. Didn't realize the store had milo until this year. I've been buying alternatives from Farm & Fleet and Menards.

I guess... It is made from human sewage waste cooked in an oven.

southern-ct-4 - not sure how far south you are, but Smithland Supply has Milo on sale through July 4 for $11.99/bag (limit 5 per the website). They seem to do this a few times per year,
Sometimes it’s a bit better with a BOGO sale.

Thanks so much. I seem to be about 30 minutes from the closest location. If there were a higher limit I'd absolutely go, but for 5 bags it's not really worth the trip (unless I had another reason to be in the area perhaps). But thanks again and I'll keep an eye on them from now on.
