Disease Ex (azoxy granular) as a preventative. Spot sprayed some clover and nutsedge with tenacity.

Since July 1 my rain gauge showed a total of 5+ inches of rain.
I have been mowing every 3-4 days.
I can't remember if I have ever seen lawns of those who don't have irrigation systems (myself included),
looking this green in July.
I did get to mow yesterday when it was pretty dry..... just before a downpour.
Today as I post, we are having another deluge of rain!

I keep emptying my rain gauge here in eastern MA. I think we are closer to 10 inches and maybe more. Certainly more after today.

Mowed extra high yesterday. Hadn’t mowed for 10 days or so. When I stepped onto the lawn barefoot in the mornings this past week or so the grass was wet, but not particularly cool, and some days downright warm. I took it as a sign to hold off. I took a chance yesterday because it looks like decent rain and relatively cool temps for the next week. So hopefully the grass won’t be too stressed.

String trimmed, too. Last July it was so hot and dry I didn’t mow at all, so I hope it is a good sign for the amount of repair and renovation I’ll have to do this fall, but summer ain’t over yet.

Spot sprayed more Japanese stiltgrass with acclaim using my 4 gallon backpack sprayer. I use about 0.40 oz per gallon and does the trick without hurting the grass.

Got a mow in today. I've been cutting at 4" and bagging everything due to some fungus/disease that I've been battling for the last 6 weeks. We been getting up to two inches of rain each week which is very uncommon for this time of year in my area. The lawn finally looks like it's bouncing back but there hasn't been a ton of growth.

I watched it rain five inches in the last two days. It's wetter than April here.

Mulched mowed yesterday evening. 4" HOC. With all this rain lawn looks great. Watching it like a hawk for any signs of disease. This humidity and overnight temps are scary. Side note, just saw TruGreen drop granular fert on my neighbors lawn. Really??! She doesn't water. (Supposed to be 100 today with the heat index) UH-OH

Isolated thunderstorms almost every other day this past couple of weeks so I've mowed when I can.

Spot sprayed some crabgrass. Prodiamine overall did a great job this year but a little CG broke through near the pavement.

Lots of rain, so I'm hand pulling nutsedge and various other weeds popping up around the lawn.

I planted 144 grass plugs. Half hachita blue grama and half legacy buffalo grass. When I got about 2/3 done, I realized I was going to run out, so I started planting farther apart. I also started cutting the square (and larger) blue grama plugs in fourths. I cut some of the round buffalo grass plugs in half, but some plugs didn't really have enough grass to cut in half. I started taking pictures when I started, but it's supposed to rain off and on tomorrow (and chances of rain for the next week or so) so I wanted to get all of the plugs in the ground tonight. It was getting dark by the time I finished. I have a small amount of blue grama seed in the freezer that I think I'll spread in areas that I wanted to plug but ran out.

Blue grama is a bunch grass, but it does spread slowly via tillering and blue grama and buffalo grass are short (and only the grama and buffalo grass will be growing at the end of summer) so I can let it go to seed. Buffalo grass spreads via stolons (and if the plugs are any indication, stolons start growing pretty early). Plugged (and sodded) varieties of buffalo grass don't produce seed (this is a good thing, because buffalo grass seeds are about the size of peas and are in burrs; also, seed varieties are bad for people with allergies).

This winter, I'll dormant seed crested wheatgrass and western wheatgrass over the entire lawn, even in areas that somehow aren't yet dead.

I just realized that although I consider my lawn a cool season lawn, blue grama and buffalo grass are both eatin season grasses. But I think I'll leave it here and cross post.

Put down my final preventative fungicide app. Just a couple more weeks to get through. KBG back yard looks fantastic. No disease issues this year. All the July rain saved me a ton on my water bill :-)

Fed it with 15 pounds per K of soybean meal in preparation for a very, very busy August for me. It's a hair early, but soy is also slow and we're expecting a slight dry spell.

We're also shopping for a new lawn robot. It's down to the Husqvarna and the Landroid by Worx. So far, the Landroid is leading on features, battery life (and availability, price, interchangeability with our other Worx products...) and app.

Keep us posted on your decision! I’m considering adding one for either the front or back yard just to cut my mowing in half.

(Momentary thread hijack) I'll make a new thread with my thought process, which is long, sticky, and tends to pick up a lot of dust mice. Right this instant, I have a little time.
