general lawn question
how many of you actually walk through your lawns all the time? I planted bullseye, turbo, ls1200 in my yard. I cut it down a little for winter. my only problem in the lawn is so dense and full when I step on it or run the lawn mower through it, it pushes it down. take a toothbrush and push the bristles down and hold them there. that is how it kind of looks. then sometimes is leaves hole in the grasses fullness. thanks guy. maybe a dumb question but that's my only real problem.

How high are you mowing? Is it damp/wet a lot there?

no its no real damp or wet but maybe from all the water from getting it to germinate. I am cutting anywhere from 2 3/4 to nipping the tips at says 3.5 inches to 4.

Re: general lawn question
This time of the year I'm cutting @ 2.75"-3" tops. The tops of your grass may not feel wet. But I'm betting the morning dew is keeping the lower parts very damp. No sun light is getting through. Start bringing it down a little at a time.
What you can do is mow in one direction, take a leaf blower and stand the grass blades back up, then mow at a 90* angle to the previous cut. That works for me.

Re: general lawn question
Is the persistence of footprints ( grass doesn't spring back in a certain amount of time ) a sign that water is needed?

Re: general lawn question
When your footprints keep showing in the grass and the grass doesn't spring back up it is time to increase your watering. Keep in mind that watering deep and infrequent is best.

Re: general lawn question
lawn2013, the same thing happens with my lawn, but only on the part that was newly seeded this fall (TTTF/KBG mix). My guess is that it is either from the new growth being fairly tender, or is just a characteristic of the cultivars I chose (Blueberry & Bullseye/Cochise IV/Faith). I'm certain that in my case it's not lack of water.
