NCLG October 23rd Lawn Photos

Post by nclawnguy » October 23rd, 2013, 10:30 am

I haven't posted photos since beginning of August. Here are some photos I took today of my tttf lawn in Concord, NC. Overall the lawn is healthy and doing well. After a wet summer, it's been dry this fall so I have had to water about once a week. I did overseed the backyard, it thins out a bit every year from the extreme shade from the trees.

I can see why you would want to switch to KBG. Looks Terrible :rotfl:

You can really see how great the color is in the shade pics.

I wouldn't be switching becuase I am unhappy with my current lawn, actually I am quite pleased. I think I can take it up a notch with some top kbg and tttf blend. When I originally seeded in 2009, 2/3 of the blend were mid performing on turf trials for my area. I want to start from scratch and do a truly elite lawn blend.

You are preaching to the choir :)

I was just messing around, and totally understand why you would do that.

I'm currently doing the exact same thing to a T. Hopefully i'll have some valuable input over the course of the next year on how the blend of elite tttf and kbg does here in a similar climate. In the beginning it's frustrating, because the tttf develops to much faster and the look is far from uniform. But as well all know, kbg's transformation with time is drastic in comparison and they should form a nice blend once color, blade width and growth rate all even out.

If my tttf reno looks that good next year I will be a happy camper! How long is it mowed in those photos?

I am mowing at 2.75", but I haven't mowed in a few days when I took the pics today...so it's a little shaggy.

Looks fantastic! I'm jealous of your grass coverage under the shady trees...

looking great, it would be tough to kill off that next fall without at least a couple whimpers.
