Winter Height
So I have my lawn down to 3". Ideally I would like it at 2.5" for the winter. As far as I can tell it's stop growing. Will I do any damage if I cut it now?
The only reason why I ask is because for some reason I think that it will be "put to bed" with an open wound, inviting disease.

Inquiring minds want to know, I am interested in knowing this too, thanks for asking.

No damage. Cut it, optionally feed it, and turn off the light after tucking it in...
Put a note in your yard diary to ease it down to winter height next year.

Re: Winter Height
No damage, just loss of green color.
I'm still at 1.75 inches and love it. I've thought about dropping it to 1.25, because it looks so good at this height. But, for me, I don't want to lose the color this late in the year (it won't have time to recover before top growth stops).

Re: Winter Height
Wow! I was cutting mine that low, but ended up raising my reno height to 2 1/4" to help the grass deal with the rust and leaf spot I was having. The combination of things I did resolved those issues, and it looks great, so I'm letting it ride for the winter.jglongisland wrote:I'm still at 1.75 inches and love it.
I still have one or two cuts left I think - so I may drop the back down to 2 1/4", but I won't lose any sleep if it stays where it is.

Re: Winter Height
I have mine at 2.75" right now, which is my personal favorite height for tttf. I will drop to 2.25" for the winter.

I'm down to 2.25" for the winter. Started slowly bringing it down 6 weeks ago.

Is it even considered winter down in Georgia? lolGeorgiaDad wrote:I'm down to 2.25" for the winter. Started slowly bringing it down 6 weeks ago.

That was the plan, but too many things got in the way.andy10917 wrote:No damage. Cut it, optionally feed it, and turn off the light after tucking it in...

Re: Winter Height
I was at 2.5" thru most of the fall and was planning to be at 2.25" for the final cut but ended up going to 2.0" in the end. I don't feel I lost much additional color lowering down to that height.

Re: Winter Height
Mine is currently at 2" and has never looked better. Mowed down from 3.5 over the past month. I think I will keep it at 2" this winter. Now if I can get all of the leaves before the rain is supposed to begin Saturday morning. My neighbors will love to be awoken to the sound of the blower and mower.
