renovation at my parents house

Post by Abyss » October 14th, 2009, 6:20 pm

moved 20 yards of topsoil up into my parents side yard and down into the front yard the weekend of sept 20th or so and then came in with SSS tall fescue blend for the front and took that up into the side yard for a light pass, and followed with seeding of SSS fine fescue blend with america kbg. Was a lot of work and we probably could've used another 5-10 yards of topsoil, but we'll save that for another year.

I really wish it would've been a nicer fall like the last 2 years, but it'll be a work in progress, and eventually we'll get it to where we want. I plan on coming through with america kbg for the whole yard next fall overseeding, and maybe adding another kbg cultivar to the front as well.

after the soil was down:

and this is where the lawn is now 22 days later:

just wanted to add that I wanted to kill all the grass and start over, but my father was completely against that since he just redid along the driveway last year when they got the edgers put in and the driveway repaved. I'll get the rest of it in a year or two when we resculpt that area of the lawn more

Looks pretty darn good after just 22 days! Fescue gets going a lot quicker than kbg.

20 yards in one weekend is a heck of a lot of soil to move around.

got the second mow in on my parents lawn the other day. Its come farther along then I expected with planting so late. Have some few weeds that will be remedied come spring, and a few places that will be overseeded (mainly shady areas with kbg/tallfescue)
