'09 TTTF renovation in STL
Spring 2009
Fall 2009 TTTF renovation
first, let me start with the thank you's--- Thanks GaryC and Thanks aroundtheyard.com.
this is mostly Gary's fault for getting me going on this, he paid for that by answering hundreds of emails, hehehehe.
the Bestlawn boards are a major source of info and support.
now the front and the side look more like turf. this is only year one. I'm hooked, next year will be better. this year was "can I do this?", next year will be "take it up a few notches".
had a couple of dry days to mow, took the picture(sorry about the color balance and focus) before it starts raining again, leaves falling etc. looks better after a few days. can you see the left over straw, weeds?

Very nice!
At this point in the renovation if you have more grass than weeds I'd say it was time to celebrate.

Looking good!
You will have to change your handle now. I don't see crabgrass!

... saying the top first picture is what it USED to look like!!!!! (salad fixin's, as I called it. LOL!!!) I'll fix it for you, pal!clay&crabgrass wrote:first, let me start with ...
And as far as the emails, I've enjoyed Marc's humor in every one, which first started about renovating his grass in spring of '08, I believe.
It looks great so far!
Pines are trimmed, village easement it fine, grass is thriving.
Why YES you can - and pretty good at it too I might add!"can I do this?"
Big difference then to now, you deserve to be proud of your hard work, and you've yet to see how beautiful it will become as it matures!!!! Just think what the STL Zoysia neighbors will say next spring, LOL!!!

Re: '09 TTTF renovation in STL
I was still shopping around for seed after I had RU'd the front(cart before horse thing), anyway, while picking up a load of compost from the local supplier I found out they had seed. a mix of TTTF for this area, from EvergreenSeed(Stockton, Mo.). they claim it's a 33% mix of Tomcat, Houndog and SouthernComfort. the tag on the bag says it's a 33% mix of Regiment, Tomcat and CoronadoGold. I'm new at this and couldn't tell you one from the other. rest of the yard is K31 and weeds. in some of the shady areas along the house and under trees, I tossed down some "shady mix" from the bin at the hardware store, assume that's a FF mix.
