Not necessarily. Stiltgrass germinates so late that early applications are running out of steam by that time. You need to make really sure that Pre-M is still effective around Memorial Day. See the first post in this thread for more info.

Will do. Thanks Andy!

Andy,

So do you recommend prodiamine as a good pre M for stiltgrass? Or is there another pre M you would recommend for it? I used pendulum 2g in early spring but as you indicated if you don’t put a strong enough app down it will emerge all summer long which it’s doing in my yard again in small patches.

Prodiamine seems to work well, and is the only thing I have tested, so I can't tell you if others are better or worse.

Thanks Andy. I think I’m going to use prodiamine twice a year to help keep it down. Pendulum is too expensive for me to keep purchasing ($90 for a 40lb bag)

Andy,
Do you know if Blindside works to control Japanese Stiltgrass?
It is listed on the label as one of the weeds it controls.

Sorry, I don't really know Blindside nor the use of it for Japanese Stilygrass.

Sprayed glyphosate on the young Japanese stiltgrass appearing in the woods near the house.

I've spent the last few years hitting the surrounding wooded areas with glyposate on any JS. I also use prodiamine on the lawn in the spring and fall. I really didn't see much last year and this year none has emerged. So far so good and fingers crossed!

Just thought I'd bump this post again. I generally spray stiltweed with Acclaim when I see it and sweep the wooded areas around the yard for it too, so I was surprised to see it in the main areas of my yard over the last few weeks. I hit it at two week intervals and see to have beaten it back.

Keep your eyes open!
