Re: Grubs
I just dropped Bayer today (rain tonight) as well as 72 lbs of Milorganite. If the Bayer won't get them, all that cr@p will

Re: Grubs
At this point, you are going to have to use an AI such imidacloprid (Bayer, Merit, etc.) My window to apply in Illinois ends July 15th. Not sure with your climate, but I've seen people putting it down now. IMHO, I'd go ahead and apply.

Re: Grubs
That's what I was thinking Jason. It's just that I have two acres without irrigation so it's expensive and I will probably have to do in the rain.

Re: Grubs
I am thinking Merit granular might be most cost effective then. It comes in 50 lb. bags with or without fert. I'd do the latter. Bayer Advanced also has the same AI. I'd buy the product and apply right before your next moderate rain. Imidacloprid doesn't take as long to work into the rootzone as some of the newer AI's. JDL sells the Merit, and Big Box sells the Bayer Advanced. Just make sure you do NOT get the new Grub Ex. Too late to apply and be effective. It used to contain imidacloprid, but they changed the AI. Good luck.

Re: Grubs
Jason, to follow up on your point regarding the new Grubex, the Scott's 800 number has an automatic voice response for Grubex application time saying that it can be applied from spring to early summer, yet if you stay and the line and ask they admit it's too late for NJ and probably most other locales. Bad job on product labeling by them and their auto voice message.

Re: Grubs
Yeah. It's really all about the money I suppose. Here in Illinois, shelves are still stocked with Grub Ex and even heard an employee recommend the stuff earlier this week. Of course I jumped in and recommended Bayer. The customer thanked me. Michigan State has a really good article on new grub control timing. Might be worth taking a look. I am sure Rutgers has one to.

Re: Grubs
Jason, yes I saw the article, thanks. Same here, shelves stocked with Grubex right now and NO Bayer other than the killer I put down 6 weeks or so ago. Thanks again.

Re: Grubs
Your window for Grub Ex has passed. They shouldn't even be selling it this late. The Bayer should do the trick.85suited wrote:jason i just put down bayer last week… do I need to do grub x in july?
