Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Amusing fact: to get rid of an earworm, do math in your head that you have to think about, for at least ten seconds or so. It uses the same area of the brain and, to concentrate on it, your brain has to drop the earworm.
It usually won't come back unless you intentionally think of it again. If it does, just do more math.
You get the added benefit of practicing math in your head, improving that skill.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Bag rate, assuming it is also provided adequate water.
But your goal here is to provide water and fertilizer and let it wake up when the temperatures are right. If you let it go naturally dormant. You should allow it to wake up naturally too.
In most cases, lawns go dormant from heat and lack of water. So rather than focus on fertilizer, I’d focus on temperature and irrigation.
Once you see it waking up, then focus on fertilizer. Applying fertilizer to dormant grass is a waste of time and money.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Someone mentioned dissolving urea in water and applying it that way. I read a few threads of people mixing it at around .25-.5 lbs per 1K. I assume this is more of a rate used to feed every week and if one was going to apply urea in November when temps are around 55 degrees and top growth has stopped you will still need to get 1lbs or more per 1k square feet? Is mixing it to a liquid even an option for an over winter application? I don't see anyone mention it.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Foliar feeding (what you're describing is at much lower levels. and material used (Urea) should not be applied at rates described here.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I assume in November a foliar feeding would not have the same effect as granular wood as far as getting reserves stored until spring?

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I am 14 days after germination of TTTF small renovation and my plan was to start spoon feeding urea at .2lb/ksqft. I have a few thin spots that I was going to throw more seed down today and my question Is would the spoon feeding of urea negatively affect the germination and growth of the new seed I was to put down as well? Should I wait til that has germinated and established too before I apply urea?Or am I good to let her rip?

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I'm a little puzzled as to how you came up with the 0.2 lbs/K rate - that will deliver a little less than 0.1 lbs/K on of Nitrogen applied. It hardly seems worth the effort. Logic?

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
It’s just what I have read to do to be honest, .25lbs/Kthe first two weeks, then .5lbs/K every other week until growth has stopped.i apologize for my ignorance. I just did not know if the Urea would be detrimental to the new seeds germination and growth. That’s all I was wondering.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I meant .25 lbs of nitrogen. Which would come out to .54 lbs of urea per 1,000sqft. Then after the first two feedings I would apply .5 lbs N /1,000 sqft every two weeks. I want to reseed a few thin spots and all I wanted to know was if the urea applications would affect the new seeds germination and growth.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
OK, that makes more sense. And no, it won't harm it.

How much is a 50lb bag of Urea going for this year in your area? It's now up to $50 where I live!! Yikes.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
$25 at any feedmill. It used to be $14.
You’ll always pay a premium buying at coops or garden centers.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I’ve no idea. I stopped checking their prices when I discovered it was routinely twice the price I found at feed mills.
