Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Oceangro is great, if you can get it. It’s not normally found in Northern Jersey and only a few places in Central Jersey. Cream Ridge in Monmouth County and Ferris Farms in Middlesex.
I’m told that Ferris Farms is finished after this year (the owner wants to retire).
So folks will need to find other sourses in Middlesex.

Definitely the first green up in the neighborhood here. I just used Scott's fall fertilizer, which I realize is probably sub-optimal, but it's what I had and seems to have worked reasonably well.

From your profile you have a northern mix?
Got to love PR for that. I think my KBG might be doing something, but it looks kind of scraggly in my part of MA. The front where I have a northern mix is still pretty yellow also. I see some slight greening coming up.
I winterized with Urea.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Just a quick report out on the aggressive regimen. Cant believe how great the turf looks due to this procedure. Even before the warm up the grass still retained the dark green color from fall.
I need to mow already in michigan... not cuz I want to but because the grass has grown that much.
Maybe the alfalfa pellets feom last august are still promoting growth but I doubt it.

I too am definitely the greenest lawn in my neighborhood. I'll be the first to mow next week. I used the aggressive version last fall. I had fertilized maybe twice in 20 years prior to last fall.

Same. So so glad I tried it out last year. Question though: if I wanted to throw down some milo, when would an ideal time to do so be? Seems like I'm covered in the nitrogen department for now. Just not sure when that store of n will be depleted.Masbustelo wrote: ↑April 10th, 2019, 11:05 amI too am definitely the greenest lawn in my neighborhood. I'll be the first to mow next week. Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
The "Fall Nitrogen Regimens" thread has been updated for 2019. Small changes were made to the take learnings from questions in previous years and embed them into the first posting in the thread, so that you don't have to read all 56 pages of material.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Thank you for updating the original post in this thread, Andy for 2019. It is a ton of great information for anyone looking into a Fall regimen for the lawn and worth a read even if one has done this every fall. Thanks.

This is a great writeup...bookmarked.
Does anyone know if SiteOne carries Urea in NY? I have the question out to the sales guy I normally work with but if not...anyone have a good place to get it?

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
You'll probably spend more for Urea at SiteOne, and they may try to upsell you to slow-release products that cost far more than fast-release stuff - the fast-release is what we use for the Regimen. It should cost around $17 a 50-lb bag. Try farm supply stores or Agway locations -- I know the Altamont store advertises they sell Urea, but you may be able to find it somewhat closer than that.

I didn't know that Agway has it but there's one on my way from work in Ballston Spa...They have a 50lb for $24 bucks.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I just called several Agway stores here in south central Connecticut. Both quoted me about $33.00/bag for Urea! That's nuts. Any one know where I might find it more reasonably priced?andy10917 wrote: ↑August 26th, 2019, 1:30 pmYou'll probably spend more for Urea at SiteOne, and they may try to upsell you to slow-release products that cost far more than fast-release stuff - the fast-release is what we use for the Regimen. The last 2 years I have gotten Urea at Nutrien Ag Solutions in East Windsor (Crop Production Services).

Broad Brook, CT 06016
Last year paid $26 for 100lb.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Gave the lawn a light dose fert last week before some good rains to wake it up. Had some solid growth this week which should get rid of most of the rust. Had great success with the plan in the past - I cannot wait to hit the lawn this weekend with the first dose of the aggressive plan.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Been eagerly waiting for weeks to start this program on my friend's yard. I voluntereed to help him after he fired his long term lawn service this year. Guy was mowing really short and not fertilizing even though he was paid to. Weeds, sparse, yellow, and really bad looking overall. Took me over a month to get the lawn even at 3", another month to get it green, and it has been slowly filling in since.
His neighbors have come to thank me for making his lawn look so good - even though I still think it looks pretty bad. I have been nursing his lawn along to get to this day. First dose down. Cant wait to see everything thicken up. Which reminds me - I need to get some photos.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Did the program last year with great success. I do however have a couple inquiries for this year. Will applying humic/fulvic acid just prior to first urea application help with the effectiveness of the fertilizer? Also what is the appropriate depth to be watering in the urea? I had no burning last year with the amount I was watering in but Im wondering if theres an ideal depth.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
To be honest, I don't get the fulvic/humic question - fulvic goes down as a foliar and humic as a soil application. I don;t get the mixing thing.
I recommend a minimum of 0.25" water for Urea app, and 0,50" if possible.

Thanks for the answer on the watering. Here's a link to the product I'm using for the fulvic and humic acids. https://simplelawnsolutions.com/collect ... -hume-32oz
