Stocking Up for Crabgrass Season

Post by andy10917 » April 5th, 2010, 11:36 pm

I know that for most of the Northern Lawn folks, its still a little early, but I spotted a very good price on a good product for crabgrass season. Quinclorac is really good at the job (and some ubernasty broadleafs too) and has been used by the pro's for a while, but now they have homeowner sizes too. "Drive 75% 1.5 oz" is $16.95 (makes 4 gallons). Everywhere else it was $25 - $30.

They also had the dry powder to make 5 gallons of RoundUp QuickPro for $16.95.

Here's the link: Link to Drive 75% (Quinclorac)

Ouch! Didn't see that. And I thought I was going to be set...

Maybe I'll make up for my crime by explaining Quinclorac to the folks that aren't familiar with it. Unless Gary wants to explain it - I think he knows it better than I do.

The thing I love about Quinclorac, in addition to being a great all season everyday herbicide, it is one that renovators and over seeders can use on their new seedlings.

Herbicide Delays after Seeding
Can be applied 7 days prior to seeding on any cool season turfgrass. Can be applied anytime after seeding on tall fescue, but must wait 28 days after emergence of creeping bentgrass, perennial ryegrass, or Kentucky bluegrass.
When your new seedlings are fighting to stay alive next to shadowing weed pressure, Drive 75 is great.

Drive 75 *AND* Sedgehammer Ebay seller

Andy please add anything else.

Gary, you have different shipping options. Default is UPS NEXT DAY AIR
but UPS ground was available for me for $9.62
Just thought I'd point that out. Ebay is still cheaper for me. Does anyone have this in a little larger bottle?

Yeah - the "original" was like a 1-gallon bottle. That's why homeowners weren't using it at first. I'm not aware of any sizes "somewhere in between".
