Decided today was the day to finally get that first edging in which has been bugging me. Only 38 degrees outside with a windchill under 30

Was cursing myself the entire time, not my best work but it's done

Got my second cut and edge in. It was cold but I was mainly in the sun so not that bad. 2.5" on my first cut and 3" on this cut. The deck is getting raised to 3.5" for my next cut and will stay there until it is hot.

Tsmith and bauer time, I'm jealous. I have not cut yet. Have not even started the equipment. Hope to do something this weekend.

Yeah same here, I ran the mower over a week ago but that was just to mulch up some dead leaves. Looks like another week of cold weather :( I'll probably edge my mulch beds this weekend and pick up some mulch soon.

I'm trying to stay positive by hoping that the tenacity-sprayed annua/triv freezes it's a** tonight and dies :club:

We have rain an 1" of rain in the forecast Thursday, hopefully the snow will be gone soon and warms up. This is my first spring waiting for things to green up and start growing like crazy.

Its taking so long to get warm, Im not having a lot faith that the grass is going to thicken up, I gotta keep thinking "patience" :banghead:

Wow, are you just letting it grow or you don't have much top growth yet?

To be fair, my first mow was to clean the yard up a bit. I bagged and only had about 3/4 bag of clippings. Today's mow was because of top growth.

I applied my first application of Velocity to some patches in the back yard. I have a huge continent of it in the front but will wait to see how the back reacts first. Thank you for posting your conversion earlier in this thread to teaspoons, that made my life much easier.

I know this is going to be painful battle but I'm in it to win it. I sure have plenty of Velocity.

Cold today...maybe 37 at the peak. Still some snow left. Just a bit on the edge near the street, which I shoveled off. The front is definitely entering Spring flush mode. I noticed that even some Zoysia in the area is just starting to green up (unless it's green weeds or other grass that's interspersed in those lawns and are greening up).

Barely any top growth from what I can tell for me. If anything, this week/weekends mow will be a clean up mow. I'm just itching to do something. :yahoo:

It's only going to be 13 degrees tonight, that's nothing more than just an ice bucket challenge for the grass I presume.

No problem, a little arithmetic and my little scale!

Just be sure to keep up with your pre-em applications, both spring and fall. I couldn't/didn't do a fall application last year because of my overseed project, and the Evil Twins seed bank replenished much of what I had killed. Fun times!

Checked on my duck. Mowed for third time. Neighbor said he has to have surgery in a couple weeks and was going to hire somone to mow his lawn so I told him I'd cover it for him.

Looks like I'll be mowing double this spring :)

Ducky doing ok?

Three very cold nights in a row now over. Had buckets over daffodils for 3 straight days.

Applied malorganite at bag rate. Looks like the majority of the grass is awake, but growth is still pretty sluggish. I hope the microherd is awake...
