spent 6 hours in the yard yesterday but somehow wasnt able to drop anything before the rain today which never came so I snuck out at lunch and dropped 4 bags of Milo

I also decided to try dropping Pine Bedding Pellets with my compost spreader which turned out to be much easier to drop with it than with my broadcast spreader. As i mentioned in another post the compost spreader is great for spreading peat moss but oddly enough not so great for spreading compost. I was worried i wouldnt get to use it as much as I thought when I purchased it since it wasnt great for compost so Im glad ill be able to use it for something other than peat moss.

It may still be too early to tell but I've had very limited success dormant seeding the small area by my shed and around my front tree. On the way home today I picked up a bag of peat moss to put on top of some new seed I threw down yesterday. I avoided these areas with my Dimension application so I should be ok. Just don't want to wait until mid August overseed for these areas to fill in...

Took some advice and blanket sprayed Tenacity at 4oz rate before it rains tomorrow. Once the POA is bleached Ill decide what to do next, I don't think its going to be pretty.

Walked the yard and took note of how fast the quack grass is spreading. It's sending new shoots up like crazy.

Finished topping off some mulch, filling in the tree ring I edged out here. Added some phlox to some beds and fertilized bed plants. Cleaned out a bed. I still have intermittent yellow spots, but the grass is about to kick it into high gear. We got several inches of rain today, and temps are on the upswing to mid 70s, with lots of sun. MOwing every other day here we come! :yahoo:

I also have tons of dandelions yet. The round of 24D put the hurt on about 90% of them. Round two coming soon.

You ain't kidding. I haven't done a clean up cut yet because it will be easier to attack to quack. We had snow on Saturday so the weather has be whack. Year 2 of my reno and it's much darker this spring and I've haven't dropped any fert. Nice surprising contrast this spring

Looking good wis99ski!
Man, your lawn is really thick. What cutting height do you plan on keeping?
Can't wait to see the pictures when you cut at your preferred height. Looks like you're going to need a strong mower and a sharp blade. Awesome!

Sprayed podium/FAS/cidekick mixture for the first time this season. Does anyone else enjoy the smell of primo maxx(podium) when they are done spraying?

Thx Tony, I put it up to 3.75-4". I may keep it a little lower for longer if this spring into summer is as rainy as last year. All that moisture down low, I feel caused some type of damp BBDL that didn't look healthy. 2 years into a reno at the start of green up before regular cutting looks good when it's utilizing the N from a late last app in Dec.
I have a regular push mower with a decent torque. It's not a time master or anything.

Hoosier, why not forget about all that mowing and such. With your land you could do something like this: no? http://remodelista.us1.list-manage1.com ... 166db34369

I am thinking of dropping seeds in the next few days, the question is do I need to start watering if the high is in the high 60s to low 70s and low in the high 30s to low 40s with mostly sunny sky?

if you are asking about when to start watering the soil temps are more important to germination than air temps and germination typically doesnt start until soil temps hit 55

It's not really about germination, I worry that the sun will toast the seeds to death if I don't water them for 3-4 days straight before the next rain.

I'm planning to do a blank spray of 4oz Tenacity this weekend, but I noticed my lawn has a decent amount of growth. Should I mow a few days before I spray? A few days after?

Bdezz, although the label doesn't specify, I'd shoot for 2 days either side, similar to other herbicide instructions. I've been known to spray the day after a mow, but I would absolutely allow the herbicide to work its magic for a couple days before mowing.

Mowed the front, then put on my boots, and mowed the back. :sigh: I need things to dry out a bit before hitting the evil poa twins with their next dose of Velocity.
